Magna Carta schools competition launched

The University of Lincoln is launching a schools artwork competition to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the sealing of Magna Carta.

The University is looking for local school children aged either between 5-9 years or 10-17 years to create artwork commemorating the sealing of Magna Carta, liberty and the celebrations of 2015.

Two winners, one from each age category, will receive £50 Amazon vouchers and will see their work on display at an exhibition at the University in June 2016. The winner will also be published in the Lincolnshire Echo. The Echo’s Publisher Steven Fletcher will judge the competition alongside academics from the University.

Judges will be looking for colour, creativity and a representation in any form or medium of what Magna Carta and the celebrations this year have meant to the children.

The winner will be announced on the 18th January 2016.

To enter, please send artwork to Patricia Scales either in person, via the post or by email at or to Patricia Scales, University of Lincoln, Brayford Pool, Lincoln, LN6 7TS.

The closing date for the competition is the 30th December.
