Lincoln Success with Royal Television Society Awards

The shortlist for 2011 has just been announced and the Lincoln School of Media is delighted to announce that the University will be represented in the Fiction category by Colours and Shapes made during their final year by Josh Pearce, Paul Hope, David Robinson, Chris Lawlor, Jamie Brown.

Tim Goodson

Tim recently embarked on a thrilling 30 day trek around India raising money for Action Village India. The former Social Science student, who graduated in 2007, used a rickshaw as a method of transport while he, his friend and his older brother travelled 8,500km around some of India’s most famous cities including Mumbai, New Delhiand Calcutta.

Daz Scales - Backyard Productions

Faced with the prospect of leaving the RAF and having made his own films since 1992, Daz decided to apply for the Media Production course at the University to gain some formal recognition for his filmmaking experience. Backyard Productions has gone from strength to strength and now has 11 Executive Producers and volunteers from the UK and across the world.

High-flying Emily gets Rwanda ready

Former University of Lincoln student Emily Norton, now Forensic Anthropologist and Archaeologist, is in preparation for a trip to Rwanda, location of the 1994 Genocide.  Once there, Emily will form part of a team who will be responsible for undertaking anthropological examination and documentation of the victims of the 1994 Genocide; working closely with survivors and survivor’s families to learn about the atrocities incurred.

RAF Cranwell graduates take top honours

Two serving officers from the Defence College of Logistics at RAF Cranwell recently took top honours after graduating from the University of Lincoln. Wing Commander (wg Cdr) Andrew Hawker (44) and Squadron Leader (Sqn Ldr) Hannah Parr (34) are the first two students to have graduated from the Air Logistics Staff Course (ALSC) at Masters’ level and both with Distinction.

Comedy duo on their way to Edinburgh

A comedy duo who developed their talents at the University of Lincoln will perform at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this summer, having just made their national TV breakthrough. Graduates Shea Taylor and Steve Langstaff, who perform together as Him and Me TV, will take their double-act for a two-week run at the world’s biggest arts festival, where many of Britain’s best-loved comedians made their names.

Lincoln graduates' bid for chart success

A band who met while studying at the University of Lincoln have hit top spot of a major music download chart. Dancing Lotus reached Number One position in the iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart in April 2011 with their track 'Spend Some Time', a collaboration with Lincolnshire-based artist Elliott Morris.

Jonathan Sidwell

Media Production graduate Jonathan Sidwell, now a freelance assistant director, has already worked alongside household names from the fields of retail, sport and music. Jonathan, who graduated from the University of Lincoln in 2007, can list on his CV music videos for Basement Jaxx and Goldfrapp and commercials for companies including Pizza Hut and Asda. He has even linked up with Wayne Rooney for a Nike advert.

Agnieszka Pieterse

A Lincoln graduate who barely spoke a word of English when she moved to the UK from her native Poland seven years ago has now been recognised as one of the country’s top-achieving Biomedical Science students. Agnieszka Pieterse, who graduated with a First Class from the University of Lincoln’s BSc(Hons) Applied Biomedical Science programme in September, has been awarded the Institute of Biomedical Science President’s Prize.
