Comedy duo on their way to Edinburgh

A comedy duo who developed their talents at the University of Lincoln will perform at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this summer, having just made their national TV breakthrough.

Graduates Shea Taylor and Steve Langstaff, who perform together as Him and Me TV, will take their double-act for a two-week run at the world’s biggest arts festival, where many of Britain’s best-loved comedians made their names.

It will cap a spectacular year for the pair, who began their comedy career at Siren FM, the University of Lincoln’s community radio station.

Their stock has been rising steadily since they posted a series of spoof videos on YouTube, which quickly won them a large online fanbase. National media coverage followed and their skits were featured on the latest series of BBC 2’s Dick and Dom’s Funny Business. Their most recent spoof, a satirical take on a Lady Gaga music video, has more than two million views online.

Steve, who studied Journalism, and Shea, who studied Media Production, still acknowledge the importance of getting their first chance on Siren FM.

Steve (27), who is originally from Hull, said: “We were pretty rubbish when we started out, but some of the people in charge saw some potential. It was a great place to learn. We’re going to be more proactive with the online sketches as in the past these have lead to us getting noticed and getting work but our biggest challenge is on the horizon.”

Taking their debut show to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe is a dream come true for the duo. They will perform at Edinburgh’s Espionage venue from 5-19 August 2011.

“It is massively exciting and also the scariest thing we’ve ever done. It’ll be amazing to be part of it,” said Steve.
