Lincoln alumni in the corridors of power

Lincoln alumni Martin Vickers and Andrea Jenkyns both won seats as Members of Parliament in the UK General Election of May 2015.

Martin, who graduated with a degree in Politics from the University of Lincoln in 2004 after studying part-time for six years, is the MP for his hometown of Cleethorpes. He was first to be elected to represent the constituency in 2010.

Andrea graduated from Lincoln in 2014 with a degree in International Relations and Politics. She made headlines at the 2015 General Election when she won the Morley and Outwood constituency seat from the then Shadow Chancellor, Ed Balls.

Head of the School of Social and Political Sciences, Jacqui Briggs said "We are so proud to have two of our alumni as serving members of parliament.  Andrea and Martin are real trailblazers, very hard working and will make excellent constituents."
